Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
As the impact of technology becomes more influential, the visage of crime changes day by day. The challenges that beset the criminal justice system and its efforts to keep up are daunting. There is a perpetual need for specialists who are current, knowledgeable and possess critical thinking skills in the war against crime.

The undergraduate criminal justice program at Duplichain University offers students a broad range of possibilities that may propel their area of interest in the criminal justice system. Students who complete this degree will gain an understanding of the characteristics of crime and the workforce, organizations, and series of actions that stop or react to crimes. The criminal justice education offered at Duplichain University is designed for practitioners in the law enforcement field who seek career enhancement potential, for those in other occupations who may be seeking a change, or for high school graduates who are seeking a career in the criminal justice system.

Mission
The Criminal Justice Program offers several specialization areas and students may select one of the following areas of specialization as their concentration.

  • Homeland Security: This concentration is a study of operations and the agencies’ responsibilities in confronting terrorism and ensuring the security of US citizens and its physical property.
  • Corrections: This concentration is a study of the correctional systems designed to protect the public from convicted offenders, as well as ways to rehabilitate and integrate this group back into society.
  • Law Enforcement: This concentration is designed to prepare candidates to protect and serve the public on the frontlines through the study of law enforcement operations, criminal law and investigation.
  • Juvenile Justice: This concentration is a study of the protection, rehabilitation, and incarceration of juvenile as well as the root causes of juvenile justice problems.

Duplichain graduates in Criminal Justice will be prepared for entry-level positions or apply their understanding of law enforcement, criminology, the judicial process, juvenile justice, correction, homeland security or criminal law to their current jobs.

Intended Program Outcomes
The student who graduates with a major in criminal justice will be able to

  • accurately correspond orally and in writing to carry out organizational missions to ensure public safety.
  • apply crucial thinking skills and logic to analyze and solve a variety of problems in the criminal justice environment.
  • direct and evaluate organizational efforts to ensure effective collaboration with stakeholders to prevent, control, and manage crime to ensure public safety.
  • develop an ethical framework and knowledge of legal constraints to make decisions as a criminal justice professional.
  • develop specific technical intelligence and skills applicable to subspecialties in the field of criminal justice to ensure public safety.
  • employ interpersonal and leadership skills to work both autonomously and cooperatively as an associate of a criminal justice team.

Master of Science in Criminal Justice
The Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice is intended to meet the needs of today’s working Criminal Justice professional. The program is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of working professionals for practice in any complex and challenging Criminal Justice system. The goal of the MS degree curriculum is to prepare Criminal Justice professionals to respond to emerging trends, assume leadership roles, and have an applied base of knowledge.

Intended Program Outcomes

  • To identify the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that inform the study of crime and Criminal Justice.
  • To develop a body of knowledge and competence in administering Criminal Justice or security programs.
  • To implement the knowledge acquired of public policy, the corrections and judicial systems, cultural awareness, and contributing factors in their practice.
  • To identify current trends in the areas of corrections, policing, Criminal Justice and criminology.
  • To develop leadership skills which will be reflected in their leadership roles as they serve as change agents in the Criminal Justice system.


Doctorate in Criminal Justice

Duplichain University offers an online Doctoral Program in Criminal Justice.  The program is designed to meet the needs of criminal justice professionals to include but not limited to those in leadership positions in homeland security, law enforcement, courts, corrections, juvenile justice, and security.  In addition, the doctoral program offers opportunities to those pursuing high-level positions in higher education, research, consulting agencies and public policy agencies.

Intended Program Outcomes

  • To acquire, develop and disseminate new knowledge and  innovative  crime prevention techniques to impact the overall improvement in the criminal justice system,
  • To develop empirical skills as specialists and generalists in the discipline of  Criminal Justice.
  • To exhibit the skills and knowledge base needed to teach in Criminal Justice and criminology departments of colleges and universities
  • Conduct research in the discipline of Criminal Justice   that has the potential to make major contributions to the field and broadens the bodies of knowledge about criminal justice.
