  1. Why does the university request the name of a local newspaper in my area?
  2. At times, Duplichain scholars are awarded special Scholarships/Grants to attend Duplichain University, or they may present at a regional and/or national conference. When this happens, we feature them in their local newspaper with their permission.

  3. Why does the university request a photo of its scholars?
  4. Since Duplichain is an online university, we request a photo of our scholars in order to associate a face with their name. When we see Duplichain scholars at conferences, functions or just in the shopping center, we are can better recognize them from their photo.

    e-Learning and Technology

  1. How do I access my grades in CourseCompass Blackboard?
  2. Once you have logged on with a user name and password to CourseCompass Blackboard, and entered the selected course area, click on the Tools link. Click on Grades to access the grade book. It is the responsibility of the professor to post your grade according to the syllabus. Check your course syllabus for the grading scale and to know how a grade is earned for the course.

  3. How do I get a user name and password to access my courses?
  4. A user name and password are assigned to you as a student when you enroll in your first course. Use this username and password each time you access CourseCompass Blackboard.

  5. How do I access the courses I am enrolled in online?
  6. All courses are delivered through the CourseCompass Blackboard online instructional system. Once enrolled in a course, you may access the course by going to the Duplichain website at http://www.duplichain.org . Click on the CourseCompass link at the top right side of the Duplichain website. You must have an assigned user name and password to enter the CourseCompass area

  7. How do I get a Duplichain email address?
  8. Duplichain email addresses are assigned to each enrolled student at the time of first enrollment in a Duplichain University course. Your email address will be established as first initial,lastname@duplichain.org . For same names, a number maybe added to the address to distinguish each student with the same name.

    Financial Services

  1. Can I pay my account by mail?
  2. Yes, you may pay by check, money order, or bank draft. However, make certain that your name appears on the payment instrument. Mail your payment to Duplichain University, P.O. Box 80552, Baton Rouge, LA 70898. Please allow enough time so that your payment is received by the university by the due date. We can only accept or process credit or debit card information through written authorization via mail or email.

  3. How can I pay my bill?
  4. Payment must be made prior to the start of classes for which payment is due, unless arrangements are made to defer payment of tuition and fees. Duplichain University accepts money orders, checks, band drafts, and/or credit cards (Visa/Master Card/Discover/American Express). All payments must be in U.S. currency.

  5. How can I understand my statement?
  6. The student statement is a listing of your financial transactions with the university: tuition, fees, pending and final scholarships awarded, refund checks, and previous payments. Tuition and fees are posted to your account when you register for class and are adjusted if you drop or add classes.

  7. How do I obtain an e-bill?
  8. You are assigned an official Duplichain University e-mail address upon enrollment. All Scholars with activity on their accounts are notified via their official University assigned e-mail address that their bill is ready to be viewed as a pdf attachment. As a pdf file, this bill can be downloaded or printed. The billing statement will list the prior balance, payments, new charges or credits and a new balance for the account.

  9. I am not attending this semester. Why do I keep getting a bill?
  10. Outstanding balances will generate an account summary. If the balance is the result of course registration for the current semester, you must drop or withdraw prior to the beginning of classes. Please remember that you are financially and academically responsible for your enrollment. Call the Dean of Graduate Studies at (337) 474-1720 to verify enrollment, add or drop classes, and check account balance.

  11. I am planning to attend as a part time Scholar. Will I be charged full time tuition?
  12. If you are not a full-time Scholar (enrolled in 3 classes), then your tuition will be based on the number of classes for which you are registered.

  13. If there is an over payment on my account, can I get the funds back?
  14. Yes, any time that a credit balance exists on your account, a check can be sent to you. You will need to provide your social security number and the permanent address that the check should be sent to. Please submit a written notification to the attention of the Vice President for Administration and Finance for your check.

  15. Should I wait for an account summary before paying my fees?
  16. Payments will be accepted anytime. However, an account summary will provide a detail of your financial status at the university. The payment plan option selected by each Scholar (if applicable) at the beginning of the semester determines when payments are due.

  17. What happens if I withdraw from the University?
  18. All Scholars are eligible to receive full credit of their tuition and fees, excluding non-refundable deposits and or fees, if they withdraw before the first day of classes. Scholars receiving University scholarship awards who withdraw who withdraw will not receive reimbursement on the scholarship portion of their payments. When a withdrawal notice, leave of absence form, or drop form is filed, completed and approved by the DU administration adjustments will be made according to the following schedule:

    Within the second week ……………… 100% (less administrative cost)
    Third week of classes ..............................50%
    Fourth week of classes ............................25%
    After fourth week of classes .....................0%

    No tuition refund is available when the University authorities require a Scholar’s withdrawal or when a Scholar withdraws from a course with a WP or WF grade.

  19. What if I have outside scholarship funds to apply to my account balance
  20. You must notify the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance and provide documentation to support receipt of outside scholarship funds. To deduct outside scholarship funds from your tuition account, you must provide a copy of the outside award documentation to the Vice President of Administration and Finance and sign a Duplichain University Agreement/Promissory note. It is your responsibility to follow up and insure payment is received from any outside agency. If the agency needs to be billed, please notify the Vice President of Administration and Finance by calling (337) 474- 1720.

  21. How does an overdue account affect my status at Duplichain?
  22. According to University policy, no official transcripts or diplomas will be made available until all financial obligations to the University have been met. In addition, no future registrations will be processed until appropriate clearance from Duplichain University has been made. Reasonable collection costs, including attorney fees, will be added to delinquent accounts. A contractual agreement to pay fees and tuition must be submitted by the 15th day of the semester unless an exception has been granted by the Vice-President of Administration and Finances.

  23. What is the mailing address to send payments for Scholar’s Accounts?

  25. What is the Installment Payment Plan (IPP)?
  26. The Installment Payment Plan is an option available to all Scholars during the Spring and Fall semesters only. Select the Installment Payment Plan option when you receive your semester bill and remit the first payment along with a $35 processing fee by the bill due date. Each additional payment is due in our office (not postmarked) by the date identified in the Payment Plan. There is no additional finance charge or interest associated with the use of an Installment Payment Plan option.

  27. When is my bill due?
  28. Payments for tuition/fees are due in full immediately following registration. Course registration may be cancelled, at the University’s discretion, prior to the start of Class by the Registrar’s Office if a Scholars account balance is not fully satisfied by payment or a payment plan.

  29. Where do the bills get mailed?
  30. Bills are mailed to the address in the University files or that you most recently provided to the University.

    Human Resources

  1. What do I do if I need assistance in applying for employment?
  2. If you need any assistance in applying, please contact the Office of Human Resources at (337) 474- 1720 and we will be happy to help. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory criminal background check results. If you need accommodation(s) in the application process due to a disability, please notify the Office of Human Resources of your requirements by calling (337) 474- 1720.

  3. How are applications screened and when will I be notified of the results of my application?
  4. All applications are reviewed, screened, and final candidates selected for an interview by the search/screening committee. Once the hiring decision is made, applicants are notified by written or verbal notification. The turn around time for notification varies depending upon the number of applications received and is generally within 6 weeks after the closing date.

  5. Can I submit an application or send in application materials for a position that is not open?
  6. Applications are accepted for specific vacancies or for vacancy pool vacancy pools in anticipation of possible openings throughout the year. Unsolicited résumés or applications will not be accepted.     Library

  1. Can I get a book or journal article on interlibrary loan?
  2. Yes, Duplichain scholars may check out books or articles through interlibrary loan.

  3. What are the databases that Duplichain University’s Library subscribes to?
  4. Duplichain University subscribes to the following databases:

    - CourseCompass' Research Navigator
    - Questia
    - ERIC
    - Page By Page Books

    Registrar

  1. I have already started working on my Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy Degree at another college or university. How many hours can I transfer to Duplichain University?
  2. According to the Louisiana State Board of Regents, you are allowed to transfer 12 hours.

    Student Affairs

  1. What are the policies and procedures governing student complaints?
  2. Students are strongly encouraged to review the university catalog and the student handbook

  3. What service activities may students be involved?
  4. Students, with the approval of Student Affairs, may choose to involve themselves in a number of different activities such as volunteering in their community, disaster relief, and support for other worthy causes

  5. What student support programs does Student Affairs offer?
  6. Student Affairs offer support programs such as counseling services, services for students with disabilities, peer tutoring, mentoring; a writing laboratory, speakers’ series, and a student council.

  7. Is student financial aid available?
  8. Federal Title IV funds are not available at this time. However, students may be eligible for partial Scholarships.

  9. What is the mission of Student Affairs?
  10. The mission of Student Affairs is to foster student success in a global university community.
